Lauriston Castle and Gardens

Step back in time and escape the bustle of the city

We welcome you to Lauriston Castle to celebrate 100 years since the Castle was left to the Scottish nationIn 2026 we celebrate the centenary of the Castle being left to the nation by the Reids the last Edwardian owners of the castle.

Set among beautiful gardens and with stunning views across the Firth of Forth, Lauriston Castle is a 16th century tower house with Victorian extensions, and early 20th century interiors. Today, the house and grounds offer a peaceful retreat from busy modern life, and house a group of diverse and fascinating collections bequeathed to the city by the Castle’s last residents.

Lauriston Castle Gardens are free to enter all year round. The Castle itself is open at set times, and you can visit by joining a guided tour, which can be booked online below.

There’s also an exciting programme of events, including talks, creative workshops, film screenings and family fun activities. This year there is a strong 1920's focus to celebrate the centenary of the Castle being left to the Nation. See our What's on page below for details.
