City Art Centre
The City Art Centre will be closed on Monday the 6th and Tuesday the 7th of October to facilitate essential maintenance. We apologise for any inconvenience, and look forward to welcoming you in on a later date.
Due to ongoing maintenance repairs, our lift is currently not in service. Our escalators are currently in service to allow visitors to go up to exhibition floors, however as we have no downward escalators, the stairs will have to be used to exit. We apologise for any inconvenience.
Showcasing Scotland’s visual arts
Right in the heart of Edinburgh and just across the road from Waverley station, the City Art Centre is dedicated to Scottish visual and applied arts, from the present and the past.
Artworks from our nationally Recognised collection of Scottish art are displayed on a rotating basis, while a diverse programme of changing exhibitions showcase historic and modern Scottish painting and photography, as well as contemporary art and craft.
On the ground floor you’ll find both our gift shop and café, Mimi's Bakehouse
An escalator and lift provide easy access to all floors. Admission is generally free, although charges apply for some temporary exhibitions.
