Arooj Aftab and The London Contemporary Orchestra, bring a rich and impressive performance to the Usher Hall
The first-ever Pakistani artist to win a Grammy Award performs at Usher Hall.
On Wednesday 24th June, Usher Hall had the pleasure of hosting Grammy Award-winning artist Arooj Aftab, as she put on an exceptional performance accompanied by the London Contemporary Orchestra, conducted by Robert Ames.
Around 20 musicians filled the Usher Hall's grand stage, adding to Aftab's famously layered and unique sound that bends genres. The fantastic acoustics of the venue complemented this further, ensuring that the performance was nothing short of cinematic.
She was in high sprits throughout the show, bringing out whisky shots for each of the orchestra members, while not redacting from her powerful stage presence that gave off a chilling, ethereal air.
All in all, it was a mesmerising show, closing off a series of tour dates that left the Usher Hall audience hoping for more collaborations in the future.

"Despite the stark, sacred aura of her music she explains that most of her songs are about sex, booze and heartbreak, but that doesn't make them any less powerful when Aftab reaches the top of her range, using the Hindustani ghazal form to demonstrate her expressive vocal control." - The Skinny
