About Us

Culture Edinburgh, part of The City of Edinburgh Council, welcomes around one million visitors each year. We manage, preserve and promote some of the most important places and cultural riches of our city. We’re responsible for 16 venues, including world-famous performance spaces, museums, and galleries, 200 historic monuments and 200,000 objects.

Edinburgh’s strategic vision for culture

  • Edinburgh is a world leading cultural capital, an environmentally responsible host city where ideas are exchanged freely, and the diversity of its residents is celebrated
  • All Edinburgh residents can easily access meaningful, local, cultural experiences as well as have the opportunity to contribute as well as share
  • Edinburgh continues to be a welcoming and supportive city in which a broad spectrum of creative and cultural practitioners have already chosen to base and develop their careers

Culture Edinburgh’s vision

All venues will deliver the best environment for everyone to be able to access and enjoy our programme of events and the physical spaces we manage. We aim to inspire and enthuse, contributing to overall enjoyment and mental wellbeing. Our audiences locally, regionally, nationally and internationally, will continue to be able to engage with culture while sharing our passion for Edinburgh, music, the arts, history and heritage, as we continue to attract new interest.
