Coronavirus (COVID-19): Advice for Event Organisers
We are all subject to the on-going Government restrictions programme and understand the impact this is still having on event organisers and the difficult circumstances that arise as a result.
The Council has to adhere to the current restrictions on public gatherings. Scotland has now moved beyond the protection levels system, however, capacity limits remain on larger events both indoors and outdoors. Event Organisers should note the Scottish Government’s guidance for stadia and live events, before submitting an application for use of public space or parks.
An amendment to the Regulations allows Event Organisers to seek permission for events which exceed the capacity limits. The Capacity Dispensation Application Form is available below. Please also note the Process guidelines and ensure that all relevant documentation is submitted for consideration.
The Council must also adhere to the current restrictions on the operation of licenced premises. It has applied the necessary measures across its own venues and spaces, and Licensing will continue to implement and where necessary enforce measures for spaces and events not under direct Council ownership. It will continue to reflect, and act upon, the UK and Scottish Governments’ public instruction. Where an event does not require a licence, event organisers should comply with the current government instructions relating to the restrictions on events and gatherings.
This position will continue to be reviewed following Government sharing when and how the current legal restrictions will be lifted.
