Workshops for the Edinburgh Culture and Communities Mapping Project

16 Apr 2019

You are warmly invited to take part in the Participatory Mapping Workshops for the Edinburgh Culture and Communities Mapping Project.

Workshop 1: How do we ensure equitable and accessible culture in Edinburgh?

  • When: 23 April 2019, 12:00 – 15:00 (lunch included)
  • Where: Scottish Storytelling Centre, 43-45 High St, EH1 1SR

Workshop 2: What are the benefits and challenges facing cultural spaces in Edinburgh?

  • When: 16 May 2019,12:00 – 15:00 (lunch included)
  • Where: Cutting Room, Out of the Blue Drill Hall, 36 Dalmeny St, Edinburgh, EH6 8RG

Artists, designers, performers, cultural makers, and anyone with an interest in Edinburgh’s cultural spaces are invited to participate. Using printed maps, pins, and post-its, participants will clarify the value and significance of a diverse range of city venues. The outcome will be an online and co-created map that includes cultural assets, hubs and flexible spaces of the past and present. The map will ultimately help better understand the issues of gentrification, arts equity and diversity, and access to culture.

If you would like to attend or you would like further information, please contact Morgan Currie, Lecturer in Data & Society at Science, Technology & Innovation Studies at the University of Edinburgh (email: culturalmapping@ed.ac.uk) or Tel No: 0131 650 6394.  Further details can be found at Edinburgh Culture and Communities Mapping.
