Creative Development Bursary 2022

This funding has been allocated as a result of the city’s Culture Plan to deliver wider access to Council cultural funding opportunities and continues the Council’s core role in ensuring Edinburgh is a city of creative opportunities.

The Creative Development Bursary opportunity aims to invest in creatives’ professional development and sustain the local professional artistic community across the arts and culture sector enabling it to flourish year-round.



This Creative Development Bursary scheme has been established to assist individuals working in the cultural sector in Edinburgh to pursue continuing professional and/or practice development opportunities.  Examples of what the funding may cover could be:

  1. Business training
  2. Mentoring
  3. Masterclasses
  4. Courses
  5. Opportunities to acquire accredited skills
  6. Research
  7. Residencies


Bursary awards of up to £2,000 are available.


Individuals living and / or working within the City of Edinburgh who can demonstrate a commitment to their work and to advancing their skills and practice.

Areas of practice can include:

  • Film
  • Visual Arts
  • Craft
  • Performing Arts (Dance, Theatre, Music)
  • Music
  • Illustration
  • Animation
  • Design
  • Literature
