Events Management Group

The City of Edinburgh Council's Events Management Group is a cross-departmental group set up to oversee and co-ordinate the overall strategic management, planning and funding of the city’s events. This group is chaired by Cultural Strategy.  Its remit is detailed below:

  1. Oversee and co-ordinate the overall strategic management, planning and funding of the city’s events ;
  2. Agree and implement mechanisms for assessing and approving proposed events, including impact on the city, financial implications and report recommendations to appropriate Committees;
  3. To coordinate Council resources to ensure that Council-supported events are well planned and delivered;
  4. Act as the main forum to ensure the accuracy of the information provided on the Culture Edinburgh website, with all members of the Group utilising the website, as appropriate, for event management and planning purposes;
  5. Act as the main forum for consultation on any further development of Edinburgh’s Events Strategy;
  6. Ensure appropriate dialogue and liaison with the Event Planning and Operations Group (EPOG);
  7. Liaise with the Council's Communications team and partner organisations on the promotion of events; and
  8. Liaise as required with neighbouring councils and partner organisations in Edinburgh and beyond.
